Bringing learning to life / ALP

This section

Our approach to teaching and learning is to encourage, nurture and develop the curiosity found in young children by providing opportunities for them to investigate and inquire through a range of activities which could be individual or collaborative. This requires well planned lessons that are dynamic and pupil-centred rather than teacher-led.

The Ardingly Learner Profile or ALP, underpins all our teaching and learning. It’s made up of characteristics that mean each pupil aspires to be:

  • An Inquirer
  • A Thinker
  • Knowledgeable
  • Reflective
  • Stimulated

  • A communicator
  • Self-Disciplined

Pupils have opportunities to develop and use these attributes, both in and out of the classroom, valuing them as important to successful and happy learning.
