Ardingly College will commemorate the centenary of the Armistice with a concert of music and readings in Chapel at 7pm on Sunday, 11th November.
With the signing of armistice by the combatants 100 years ago to the day, this will be an evocative, thoughtful and commemorative concert which will remember those lost in the service of their country. The centrepieces of the programme are Elgar’s war oratorio, Spirit of England with the Ardingly College Players being joined by solo soprano, Michelle Stone whilst the second half will feature Faure’s well known Requiem. Contemporary composer, David Bednall’s work is also included as the girls from Schola Cantorum will sing movements from his hauntingly wonderful Requiem. With an art exhibition in the interval, this promises to be an evening of commemoration that covers all artistic responses to the issue of conflict. Performed in the Chapel of Ardingly College, this concert is free of charge.
