Acting Headmaster, Prep School, for Michaelmas Term, 2017 - Jim Castle BA (Hons) (Surrey)

Jim Castle, our Prep School Deputy Headmaster, will be interim Headmaster of Ardingly College Prep School. Jim has been at Ardingly for eight years. Previously he was Head of Maths at Downsend School in Surrey.  Jim was educated at Epsom College and gained his teaching degree in Maths and PE at St Mary's University College, Twickenham. His wife, Nicky, teaches at Ardingly and they have four children, Sam, Harriet and Will, who are Old Ardinians, and Eddie who is still currently in the Senior School. 

Jim describes the Prep School’s atmosphere as "captivating" and says: “In this important leadership position I will continue to support the growth, learning and development of our fabulous students whilst taking on a greater ambassadorial role to prospective parents, sharing the knowledge, insights and direction of this wonderful college.”

 

 

 

Headmaster, Prep School, with effect from Lent Term, 2018 -  Harry Hastings BA (Hons), MEd (Oxon)

 

Harry Hastings becomes Headmaster of Ardingly College Prep School from January 2018. He is currently Head of Brighton College Prep School. He has taught at both boarding and day schools, including the Dragon School in Oxford and Cumnor House.  

Harry is married to Kate, a consultant anaesthetist at Brighton Hospital. They will be moving to Ardingly College with their children, Lizzie (11), Barney (9) and Rex (5). 

Reflecting on his appointment, Mr Hastings commented: "It is an extremely exciting time to become part of Ardingly College. The school's World Ready initiative is one that sits closely with my educational philosophy and I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."

 

Hilary NawrockaHeadmistress of the Pre-Prep - Hilary Nawrocka, MSc, PGCE


Head of Pre-Prep and Year 1 Teacher, Hilary Nawrocka joined Ardingly College in 2009. Prior to her role at the College she taught in both state and private schools in Haywards Heath and before that she had a career as a Radiographer and Senior University lecturer in London.
“Reading and Science are my passions. The School is very strong in reading and I am passionate about children becoming literate in Science. I feel it is one of the most important ways that we can ensure they are prepared, and able, to make informed choices in the modern world.”

SMT - Mr Ben Appleby, Mrs Suzanne Pendlebury-Bowe and
Mrs Catherine Gardner

 

Along-side their teaching, they support the Headmaster with the academic and pastoral management of the school and the leadership of the staff and pupils. Catherine Gardner lives on site and, along with her husband, is House Parent to the pupils in the boarding house.
Suzanne Pendlebury-Bowe is Director of Studies and Ben Appleby is Year 5-6 Coordinator.
