Joseph Martin, Remove (Year 10) competed in the National triathlon trials in Loughborough over the first April weekend, hoping to be in the top 25 of the 14-16 year age group.
A good swim on day one over 400m meant he started in 27th place (out of 75 boys) on the bike on the following day.
He had a phenomenal bike leg - fastest boy in the country on the day in the 14-16 age group! So that brought him up to joint 3rd place with a team mate. Unfortunately, a tumble at the bike-run transition set him back but he still managed to finish 5th overall.
This now means that he will be invited to some of the big national competitions this year, starting with the Llanelli Triathlon on 13th May. Best of luck Joseph!
