“On a crisp Monday morning, students from Ardingly College embarked on an enlightening journey to Benenden School for an engaging Model United Nations (MUN) conference. The day, marked by a blend of intellectual discussions and socialising with other schools, started promptly at 8:30 AM, setting the stage for an enriching experience.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the grandeur of Benenden’s impressive hall, where the welcoming introduction resonated with inspiration. The ambiance of the school, steeped in tradition and modernity, provided the perfect backdrop for the day’s events.

The MUN at Benenden was a vibrant display of diverse committees, each delving into crucial global issues. Students, donning the hats of diplomats, participated in committees like Human Rights, Economic and Financial, Social Cultural and Humanitarian, AI in a Digital Age, UN Environmental Program, and Disarmament and International Security. Each committee buzzed with passionate delegates presenting resolutions and engaging in debates, mirroring the dynamics of real-world international diplomacy.

The professionalism of the student chairs, who coordinated the discussions, stood out remarkably. Their adept handling of proceedings and the maturity with which they steered debates were excellent. This aspect of the conference particularly impressed me, as it elevated the entire experience, making us feel like we were part of actual political negotiations.

The interactions with fellow delegates were equally enriching. The politeness, intelligence, and enthusiasm of the participants created an environment of mutual respect and curiosity. It was evident that every delegate was deeply invested in MUN and the topics at hand.

Our journey back to Ardingly College began at 16:00, concluding a day filled with learning, networking, and growth. The drive back was abuzz with reflections on the day’s events and discussions about the resolutions debated.

In conclusion, the MUN conference at Benenden School was not just an academic exercise but a miniature model of global diplomacy. It was a platform where young minds from Ardingly College and various other schools came together to understand and address global challenges. The professionalism of the student chairs and the engaging nature of the debates were particularly noteworthy, making the event a memorable and significant experience in our educational journey.”
