Boarding is hugely popular at Ardingly with around 50% of pupils choosing to board by the time they reach the Sixth Form.

Boarding at Ardingly was designated “a significant strength” by our most recent Independent Schools Inspection, which is the highest accolade available to schools under the new Inspection framework.

We offer a range of boarding options including full boarding, weekly boarding and flexi-boarding.

"Boarding is a significant strength."

Full boarding

Every weekend there are between 150 – 200 boarders on campus and you can read more about our weekend activities below.

Weekends

Weekly boarding

For weekly boarders we offer an escorted train to Clapham Junction on Friday afternoons (a 40 minute journey) and the option of a returning coach on Monday morning from Clapham Common. We are also in process of adding some additional weekly boarding bus routes to the west of Ardingly (on Monday morning and Friday afternoon only) so please do contact our transport office to enquire about these upcoming options via schoolbuses@ardingly.com.

Flexi boarding

More and more of our day pupils choose to flexi board, which allows them to spend three nights at school every week. They have their own designated bed and area in a dorm, where they can leave their possessions all week.

Every boarder lives in one of our modern and purpose-designed boarding houses, which become their ‘home from home’.
