The Sixth Form Gold Duke of Edinburgh participants braved the wind, rain, thunder and lightening to participate in the Practice and Final expeditions in the Peak District and Lake District in June. O

ver the course of the two expeditions the students worked in self-supported teams where they journeyed across wild country on foot, on routes they had planned themselves, preparing their own food using gas stoves and sleeping in tents.

Each member of the groups encountered a range of challenges including navigating in low visibility, extreme British weather conditions, sleeping in a tent, cooking their own food, over familiar farm animals as well as much more.

They should all be extremely proud of their achievements, and we are looking forward to hearing all about them when they present their accounts of the expeditions to the new wave of Lower Sixth Gold participants in the Michaelmas Term!
