Our Year 6 pupils are currently enjoying an introduction to the Spanish language, to help inform their language choices for Year 7.
This week, pupils participated in a Flamenco Workshop, with a professional dancer, which links directly with the Spanish curriculum and enriches the children’s learning by enabling them to experience a cultural tradition at first hand.
Pupils learned and performed a dance routine, complete with castanets and fans, and engaged enthusiastically with the clapping of hands, rhythmic feet-stomping and some intricate body movements, such as sweeping arm gestures.
To finish off the morning, our Year 3 pupils were also given a demonstration of Flamenco dancing and eagerly joined in with a dance routine too. It was a pleasure to see the children so enthused by their Flamenco sessions and the outcomes were extremely positive. We can’t wait to book Dance Days again!
