The Prep Art Department at our school is a vibrant hub of creativity. We are fortunate to have two dedicated Art rooms: one in the School House and another in the Farmhouse, allowing every child to explore their talents.

From Reception to Year 6, all pupils enjoy weekly Art sessions with a specialist teacher, fostering independent decision-making, confidence, and creative expression. Our curriculum includes various techniques and media. In the Farmhouse, lessons integrate Art with other subjects and often reference famous artists and Art History. In the School House, students build on these skills, enhancing their observation, recording, and communication abilities while being encouraged to take artistic risks.

We have strong ties with the Senior School Art Department, participating in a Whole School Art Exhibition. Many pupils aim for Art Scholarships and participate in clubs to support their portfolios.

The beautiful buildings and grounds at Ardingly inspire direct observation drawing, and students have had opportunities to create stunning installations around the campus.

Prep students exhibit in the School Gallery and the Farmhouse Atrium. Artwork is also displayed throughout the school. Pupils also enter local and national competitions.
